Would you like to find out more about voluntary service in the Polish Humanitarian Action? Would you like to become our volunteer? Write to the address: wolontariat@pah.org.pl.

What is voluntary service?

Voluntary service are free, conscious and voluntary actions on behalf of other people outside the family and friendship ties (definition according to the Volunteer Centre www.wolontariat.org.pl). The aim of voluntary service is to activate the society by creating a possibility of useful activities. Everyone can apply for becoming a volunteer. However, this does not mean that everyone will always find a suitable place for themselves.

Who can become a volunteer?

For young people who are studying voluntary service is often the first step in their career. It allows them to gain experience which is necessary to get the job of their dreams. For those who are already working engaged in voluntary service it is a great opportunity to take a break from the daily routine. In the case of elderly people who are retired it allows them to find their place in a world of active people and discover their new calling.
Most associates of the Polish Humanitarian Action are students – they are the biggest group among our volunteers. It often happens that such cooperation continues after their graduation. Experts in different fields like lawyers, accountants, insurance experts, economists and engineers also cooperate with us. Moreover, elementary school pupils and the elderly can become volunteers as well.

How to become a volunteer?

We encourage you to send your CV (preferably via e-mail). You can also call us or visit the Foundation's office. Determine how much free time you are willing to commit to work on behalf of the Polish Humanitarian Action and what kind of work interests you, in what department, on what program or project you would like to work.

What are the rules of cooperation?

Volunteers usually sign a contract with PAH, in which among others the following are specified: the period of cooperation, type of work provided on behalf of a certain program or project of the Foundation, as well as the minimum amount of time that the person undertakes to devote for the cooperation.
The Foundation does not cover the volunteers' expenses connected with travelling to the office or the costs of living in another town or city. At the moment the Foundation does not intend to create any new local offices or groups of volunteers.
The volunteers can participate in different projects and departments in the Polish Humanitarian Action:

  • Mission and Emergency Aid Department
  • Humanitarian Education Department
  • GLEN Programme
  • PR Department
  • Fundraising Department
  • Pajacyk (Wooden Puppet) Programme
  • Refugee Counselling Centre
  • Repatriates Counselling Program
  • Support Department
