The explosion in the capital\u00a0 of Lebanon caused a great disaster across the city. Situation in Beirut is\u00a0 dire and the number of casualties is still growing. For now there\u00a0 are at least 150 dead, 6000 people have been injured. First responders continue to search the rubble of collapsed buildings, hundreds of people are still considered\u00a0 missing. A quarter of a million inhabitants of Beirut lost their homes. Situation in hospitals is particularly difficult, three medical facilities have been completely destroyed,\u00a0 others are overcrowded, doctors don\u2019t have the means to help all the injured.<\/p>\n

In cooperation with the local organization. International Human Relief, we support people who suffered the most as a result of the explosion.<\/p>\n

The 30 most affected families will receive us cash support for the reconstruction of their homes. At this point, they require the reconstruction of walls, windows, doors, ceilings as well as water and electric devices.<\/p>\n

Cash support will also go to 35 families who found themselves in a difficult financial situation due to the loss of their source of income, because their workplace was destroyed. Our assistance is an emergency response to the humanitarian crisis in northern Syria. The aim of the project is to improve living conditions of the people who had to flee their homes due to the recent military offensive. The project is carried out in the cooperation with our local partner \u2013 WATAN Foundation. Our activities include assistance to the temporary reception centre for the newly internally displaced persons. In the\u00a0reception centre they can stay for 72 hours, receive food and necessary medical assistance, get warm and rest. At the same time their relocation to one of the approved camps located in northern Idlib is organized. Our donation will cover the installation of four new Rubb Halls (framed tents) that will be able to host 160 families at once. We will also establish a field kitchen with necessary equipment. Additionally, we will organize distribution of cooked meals.\u00a0As a result, 19\u00a0000 people will receive assistance.<\/strong><\/div>\n

\n \n Janina Ochojska in the European Parliament <\/span>\n

Janina Ochojska was elected as a member of the European Parliament on May 26, 2019. Since she took the decision to stand for election, Janina Ochojska has been on unpaid leave at PAH and hasn’t participated in the ongoing work of the Foundation. The Foundation did not get involved in the election campaign, nor did it support the activities of Janina Ochojska in the European Parliament.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n

While a member of the European Parliament, due to the need to meet the high standards of transparency at the Foundation , Janina Ochojska suspended all activities at PAH. She decided to retain the title of President, since, like every Management Board member, she performs these functions pro bono. She will not be making any decisions relating to the functioning of PAH until the end of her term in Parliament.<\/p>\n

The election of Janina Ochojska to the European Parliament does not conflict with the ethical principles we adhere to. We remain an independent, impartial and apolitical organization. We have never engaged and will not engage in the activities of any political party, and our assistance will be provided solely on the basis of people\u2019s needs, as we have until now.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Our activities have been addressed to people who were forced to abandon their homes as a result of the armed conflict on the territories of\u00a0Idleb, Hama, and Ghuta. We carry out activities centered around access to water, sanitary infrastructure, and hygiene in IDPs camps. We create new water tanks, we supply water with water trucks, and we provide monitoring of water quality. We take care of the construction and maintenance of adequate sanitation. This project also includes activities consisting of maintaining hygiene promotion, distribution of hygiene packs, and waste management within the IDPs camps.<\/p>\n

As a result, aid will be provided to\u00a040 913\u00a0people.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\n
