The Gaza Strip, which is home to more than 2 million people, has undergone a growing humanitarian crisis for years. Intense hostilities, which have been ongoing since 2023, have exacerbated the dire situation for civilians. Although a ceasefire is officially in place, people living in the Gaza Strip still experience attacks from Israel. <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Aid is needed in the whole of Palestine, especially in the destroyed the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian organizations are doing their best to ensure that survivors have access to basic necessities, such as food, water and medicine. These organizations, including the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), support Palestinians in their struggle to survive in conditions of a total absence of safety.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a tragic scale. Since 7 October last year, nearly 70,000 people, including 20,000 children, have been killed, and more than 170,000 have been wounded. Nearly 1.5 million people are in need of safe shelter and more than a million need increased access to water. There is a shortage of food, water, medicines, medical aid and, above all, safe shelter. Even during the ceasefire, 280 Palestinians were killed and more than 600 were injured.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The West Bank, which is located to the east of Israel, borders on Jordan and covers such cities as Ramallah, Hebron and Bethlehem, has limited access to resources and infrastructure. The distance to healthcare facilities, the absence of transportation, limited ability to move about, and difficult economic conditions make living there a huge challenge, especially for people with disabilities, the chronically ill, pregnant women, and mothers with children. The situation is made all the more difficult by continuing tensions and the risk that the conflict spreads into these areas.<\/p>\n

The humanitarian crisis in Palestine, both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, requires immediate and coordinated assistance. The absence of sanitation facilities and lack of access to clean water, as well as the limited number of medicines, bandages, food and clothing, increases the risk of the spread of infectious diseases such as cholera, respiratory infections and diarrhoea. This situation poses a serious threat to health, and the need to support the victims of the conflict becomes more urgent than ever.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n

\n How does PAH help in Palestine? <\/div>\n

The Polish Humanitarian Action, in cooperation with CARE Palestine and the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee, has organized a food aid project for internally displaced residents of the Gaza Strip. Packages with basic foodstuffs, containing enough products for about a month, were delivered to 1,945 households (around 10,920 people), in particular to families with young children, the elderly, as well as pregnant and lactating women.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

With the support of donors from Poland and in cooperation with other humanitarian organizations, PAH has provided food aid and essential hygiene supplies to entire families affected by this crisis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the case of the Gaza Strip, the organization has focused on providing personal hygiene kits for families living in difficult conditions, particularly in Khan Yunis, where most of the internally displaced people have taken refuge. These included basic cleaning products such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, hygiene products and laundry detergent. This enabled the beneficiaries to maintain a minimum standard of hygiene despite lack of access to water, showers or clothing.<\/p>\n

Another food aid project has started in 2025. PAH, together with UNICEF Poland, provided a month’s supply of supplementary food for 1001 children suffering from acute malnutrition.<\/p>\n

Because of a shortage of permanent healthcare facilities in the West Bank, PAH has organized mobile teams consisting of doctors and paramedics that reach remote communities in more than 170 locations. Doctors carry out examinations, offer first aid and refer patients to larger healthcare facilities if necessary. Some of the mobile teams are made up exclusively of women to ensure the comfort of female patients.<\/p>\n
