Military conflicts, violence, human rights violations\u2026 Every day, they force millions of people to leave their homes and their lives behind!<\/h4>\n

In Iraq, over two million people cannot return to their homes yet because of the ongoing conflict. In most cases, they have nothing to return to. Their houses have been destroyed and the region remains dangerous. We are taking action right there on the spot to reach those who need help the most. We ensure them access to clean water and sanitary facilities, financial and legal support, professional courses and vocational trainings. All this helps families satisfy their daily needs and return to their normal lives.<\/p>\n

The military conflict in eastern Ukraine has been going on since 2014. It has done the greatest harm to the elderly who live near the front line, as they cannot afford to leave or have nowhere else to go. Their homes are no longer a place of safety. Many of them have lost their families. Deserted, frequently lonely, they live surrounded by the noise of nearby firefights. Apart from financial help, psychological assistance is crucial for them. We are managing psychological and social assistance centres where the elderly can meet on a regular basis, talk to psychologists, get to know each other and make friends.<\/p>\n

Although Iraq is mentioned less frequently in the context of war, its people have been left alone with the consequences of the conflict. Despite the official end to military operations, as many as two million Iraqis still cannot return to their homes. Half of them have been refugees for more than three years. Refugee camps are frequently far away from urban centres; their inhabitants live in isolation, unable to find any jobs.
