The ‘Community in Action’ project, implemented by the Polish Humanitarian Action under the Polish NGO Fund (POP Fund), improves the readiness of the inhabitants of the K\u0142odzko County and surrounding areas for such crises as floods, power supply interruptions or other emergencies. The project is implemented as the next phase of PHA’s efforts to help communities affected by the September 2024 flood.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n

The project is based on a series of practical workshops targeting two key groups. The first group are community leaders in the communes of the K\u0142odzko County and the surrounding area \u2013 representatives of local government, public institutions and NGOs \u2013 who play a key role in coordination and responding to emergencies. For a few days, participants will take part in training on such topics as alerting, evacuation organisation, rules of cooperation with the civil protection system, crisis communication, and first aid.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The second part of the project is aimed at senior citizens (both men and women), one of the most vulnerable groups in society. During the workshops, participants will learn how to prepare for an evacuation, what to do in the event of a power or water outage, and how to use available information channels and neighbourly support. The workshops will be conducted in a friendly, accessible format, with materials prepared with elderly people in mind.<\/p>\n

One of the goals of the project is to create a local network for cooperation and information exchange that will connect community organisations, local authorities and emergency services. Around 120 people in the K\u0142odzko County and surrounding areas, including at least 20 local community leaders, will be trained in two different workshop series.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2018Community in Action\u2019 is a step towards building a culture of safety and shared responsibility based on knowledge, solidarity and readiness to act. The project strengthens local structures, competences and relationships so that the community is prepared to act in a moment of crisis.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by the ORLEN Foundation and the PKO Bank Polski Foundation, through the POP Fund, managed by the PCPM (Polish Center for International Aid) Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n
