Janina Dulka lives in Wójbórz. As a child, together with her whole family, she was deported to Siberia. She was only 9 years old. She spent 6 long and difficult years there. After the war, as a teenager, she returned to Poland and settled in the annexed territories.
She recalls the period after her return as very difficult. She has spent her adult life in Wójbórz and says that she enjoys living here. Together with her husband, she ran a 25-hectare farm. They had pigs, cows, and chickens. Her husband was also a truck driver, which provided the family with a stable income.

Janina has three daughters. Two live nearby and visit every day, and the third one lives in Wrocław and comes very often as well. Janina herself does not like to travel – she doesn’t want to leave her home, as that is where she feels the best.
– It’s such a small stream, it’s hard to believe it can fill up like that – Janina recalls the flood. – In a moment the cellar was full. For the first time, there was so much water. The fire brigade had to pump it out for two days.
When asked if she ever thought about moving, she replies:- Never. Floods used to be much less frequent. It all started in ’97. Now the rains are getting heavier and heavier.
