Nasir County also struggles with a serious cholera epidemic, which further worsens the difficult living conditions of local communities and internally displaced people.
In response to the conflict in Sudan, we conducted a needs analysis, focusing on access to safe shelter and clean water and protection from gender-based violence. As a result, we carried out the distribution of hygiene kits in Manyo County (Upper Nile State), thus ensuring improved sanitation and preventing the spread of diseases transmitted by dirty water. These activities were accompanied by the promotion of appropriate hygiene rules among the local community.
The Nasir conflict that began in early 2025 led to a serious humanitarian crisis and mass displacement of people to Burbei, near the Ethiopian border. Refugees from Sudan and returnees from South Sudan were also among the displaced. In addition, a cholera epidemic broke out in Nasir County.
The Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), as a partner organisation of the water and sanitation cluster in Nasir, will ensure the distribution of hygiene kits to South Sudan returnees and refugees from Sudan. The packages will include buckets, special materials, water filtration tablets and soap. This aid will reach 2,134 households.
