We are in contact with local authorities and organizations operating in the field to address current needs, while also ensuring that those who will have to return to devastated apartments and flooded houses are not left without support. So far, we have focused on the residents of Żelazno, Trzebieszowice, Lądek Zdrój, Stójkowo, Skrzynka, Ołdrzychowice, Kamieniec Ząbkowicki, and Lewin Brzeski, as well as smaller towns in the Lewin Brzeski municipality.
Initially, we provided food and water. Currently, we are concentrating on delivering equipment to help clear the damage and clean up the environment. Recent purchases include rubble bags, wellington boots, gloves, water containers, brushes, and cloths. Shovels, buckets, rubbish bags, and disinfectant fluids are urgently needed.
In the coming days, we plan to launch psychological first aid activities. Mobile assistants will provide this type of support during the distribution of aid items we are organising. In addition to talking and providing support, they will also provide administrative information and collect information on current needs.
In some villages, the scale of damage is enormous, and residents will need support long after the water has receded. “They will need cleaning supplies and basic household items. We will not abandon those affected,” says Maciej Bagiński, President of PAH.
