The activities of the consortium led by PAH focus on supporting refugees in the process of social and economic integration. The aim of the project is to improve existing measures and identify innovative solutions and best practices through the analysis of results to date and the exchange of experience gained in the context of Poland and Italy.
The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has reshaped Europe and challenged existing approaches to safety, humanitarian assistance and integration. As emergency responses gradually transition into long-term efforts to build social cohesion, displaced persons from Ukraine (DPUs) continue to face systemic barriers and a state of “protracted temporariness”.
In response, Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), RED Nova, Emic Foundation and OPORA Foundation joined forces in the project “Innovative Approaches to Refugee Integration: Bridging Employability and Social Inclusion Through Mutual Exchange” (IARI). Together, we develop and test practices aimed at strengthening the social and labour inclusion of DPUs in Poland and Italy.
This Best Practice Toolbox presents these practices alongside practical tools, exercises and examples. Although developed and tested in Piedmont, Italy, and the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, many of the tools for community engagement, monitoring and organisational learning can be adapted to other contexts.
