In response to these challenges, we have launched a project to provide sources of clean, safe drinking water, adequate sanitary conditions and a water storage and distribution network for local residents and internally displaced people in the villages of Jisr Ash-Shughur and Hazzanu.

As part of the project, we will provide water for domestic use and to maintain adequate hygiene for the most affected communities in the aftermath of the earthquake in Idlib province, Syria.

The project would include:

• construction of a water reservoir in Jisr Ash-Shughur with solar panels;
• construction of a water reservoir in Hazzanu.

We will also provide an irrigation system to bring water to the western and southern parts of Jisr ash-Shughur and the western and northern parts of Hazzanu. The intermediate goal of the project is also to reduce the incidence and risk of spreading cholera and other diseases by providing clean water from easily accessible sources. The water will undergo quality control and testing to ensure that it meets all purity standards. In the final stage of the project, we will train local authority representatives to maintain and repair the infrastructure already constructed.

The total number of people to be assisted by the project is 81,116.
