The project is based on a series of practical workshops targeting two key groups. The first group are community leaders in the communes of the Kłodzko County and the surrounding area – representatives of local government, public institutions and NGOs – who play a key role in coordination and responding to emergencies. For a few days, participants will take part in training on such topics as alerting, evacuation organisation, rules of cooperation with the civil protection system, crisis communication, and first aid.
The second part of the project is aimed at senior citizens (both men and women), one of the most vulnerable groups in society. During the workshops, participants will learn how to prepare for an evacuation, what to do in the event of a power or water outage, and how to use available information channels and neighbourly support. The workshops will be conducted in a friendly, accessible format, with materials prepared with elderly people in mind.
One of the goals of the project is to create a local network for cooperation and information exchange that will connect community organisations, local authorities and emergency services. Around 120 people in the Kłodzko County and surrounding areas, including at least 20 local community leaders, will be trained in two different workshop series.
‘Community in Action’ is a step towards building a culture of safety and shared responsibility based on knowledge, solidarity and readiness to act. The project strengthens local structures, competences and relationships so that the community is prepared to act in a moment of crisis.
The project is funded by the ORLEN Foundation and the PKO Bank Polski Foundation, through the POP Fund, managed by the PCPM (Polish Center for International Aid) Foundation.
