Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH)  is currently looking for a Country Director to provide leadership and direction to the Country Office, ensuring high-quality, compliant and strategically aligned programming within the Country Office.

PAH has been present in Kenya since April 2018 delivering development and humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable populations. We assist Kenya’s growth, through addressing challenges such as water accessibility, conducting hygiene promotion, climate change mitigation, and agriculture entrepreneurship. In collaboration with local specialists, we implement innovative methods of collecting and treating water, such as building sand dams, shallow water wells and water tanks in schools. To empower the local agricultural sector, we organize diverse training programs covering project management, leadership, administration, and modern farming techniques for agricultural cooperatives. Our projects contribute to improving the quality of living of those we serve. Our current activities include FSL, DRR, WASH and MPCA.

Strategic Leadership & Direction

• Develop and implement Country Strategy consistent with PAH’s global framework
• Represent PAH in Kenya; Establish and maintain links with local authorities, donors and partners

Programme & Operational Oversight

• Supervision over implementation of project activities
• Secure financial resources for the Country Office and contribute to regional program development
• Responsible for project development, including leading in writing project proposals.
• Responsible for the Country Office compliance with PAH’s internal procedures and with the requirements of donors.
• Coordinate with the Internal Auditor to monitor if audit recommendations are implemented in a timely manner, if control mechanisms are strengthened, and if lessons from audits are implemented
• Responsible for Country Office Budget, including planning and ensuring implementation as per the plans
• Responsible for security management in the Country Office in close coordination with the GSSM. Implement and regularly review context-appropriate security measures, and ensure that lessons and guidance from the GSSM are applied

People Leadership & Development

• Line-manage CO SMT and oversee their performance and development.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of senior CO positions
• Identify capacity gaps in the CO and coordinate targeted support with HQ teams

Risk & Compliance

• Responsible for implementation of organizational risk management framework
• Ensure timely reporting of incidents and compliance issues to the Regional Manager and relevant HQ departments
• Responsible for monitoring of PoA management in CO
• Responsible for planning and implementation of external audits in the Country Office
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Public Benefits Organizations Act

Representation & External Engagement

• Represent PAH regionally and with in-country donors and coordination mechanisms in line with delegated authority
• Strengthen regional partnerships and operational collaboration between COs

• At least 5 years of international humanitarian experience with min.3 years in senior country or regional leadership
• Proven experience in Project Cycle Management and strong project management skills
• Demonstrated competence in operations and team leadership
• Solid experience in representing the organization in front of local authorities as well as international donor agencies
• Sound understanding of donor rules and risk management
• Previous extensive experience in staff management in the cross-cultural environment
• Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills across cultures
• Strong sense of personal and professional integrity
• Master’s Degree in International Development, Humanitarian Assistance, Management or any other related field required
• Languages: Full proficiency (C1) in spoken and written English required
• Proficiency in MS Office package
