TO THE RESULT OF TSUNAMI AND EARTHQUAKE IN INDONESIA, 1.5 MILLION PEOPLE WERE IN URGENTLY NEED OF HELP.

The most affected by the earthquake and tsunami were the areas of Palu and Sigi, where, according to estimates, half of the buildings were destroyed. In the city of Palu itself, 1700 houses together with their inhabitants were swallowed by landslides. Tens of thousands of people lost their homes.

Hospitals were also destroyed, and those which are still operating are overcrowded and unable to treat any more patients. Due to damaged sanitary systems and lack of medical aid, the risk of epidemic outbreaks is very high.

PAH has started a partnership with the ActionAid organization, which, as part of a consortium with local organizations, creates a comprehensive action plan, thanks to which people affected by the earthquake receive assistance in rebuilding shelters, rebuilding local businesses that will provide a source of income, and focus on protecting and supporting women.
